Not so bright as expected November 21, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently got one of this thinking that would be a great lantern in a compact size, especially for my tent. Considering my previous experiences with some others Brunton products, including a propane/butane lantern I thought this was the solution to have a decent and a free-burn light inside my tent. Considering it is a led lantern I didn't expected a very bright light, but anticipated something nice. Quite disappointing when turned on; now I understand why it lasts up to 250 hours (because a very poor quality light).
good light great price November 17, 2008 Got this little lamp in the mail and two days latter had it lighting my tent in Shenandoah National Park. For it's size and weight it gives off good light. Plenty of light for a large tent and enough to read by too. One note the pictures that Amazon has up shows it with a case. thats another lamp this lamp dose not come with a case. I ended up going to REI and buying a cheep one to keep this safe because I want to keep using this light for years to come.

Great used as a Bright Night Lite May 4, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This will work best as a night light. I use 2 in my camp trailer and it is perfect for continuous light in the trailer with it's long battery life.
Great Product January 12, 2007 After the earthquake in hawaii, I wanted a lantern that didn't eat batteries. The was the ONE! It lasted as it said on there web site.. This is a great product..
Brightness worth the weight. December 18, 2006 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
A lot of folks are bashing this product, but I suppose it depends on your usage. I'm an all around outdoor adventurer (canoeing, mountaineering, backpacking, day hiking, car camping) and an active Scout leader and I get about 60-75 nights in a tent or in the open annually under various conditions and locations and I've found this lantern to be a great item. It is lightweight, uses very little battery power, even with rechargables, and gives off enough light to read by, set up my tent, cook with and varioius other camp tasks. I've given several as gifts and they are equally happy. If you are looking for a bright light, this isn't it. But what are you going to be doing in the backcountry or in a camping setting, under normal that requires that bright a light? I can't think of anything I've done that requires it and I'd consider my experience extensive. Besides, we should be considerate of others in the outdoors and no one wants a series of bright lights and lanterns spoiling their wilderness experience.
