5 out of 5 stars Good value   September 29, 2008
I purchased an orange lantern in 2007, gave it to my granddaughter as they have frequent power outages. During power outage of 10 days after IKE we used this lantern and it was great. We only had to replace the 4 D cell batteries once. It lit up a whole room. I ordered and have received 2 more of these to store with other power outage supplies.

5 out of 5 stars Great Lantern   September 15, 2008

Had this unit sitting in the closet for 2 years when the power failed. The lantern, running on duracell batteries, lasted 6 hours and was still going strong when the power returned. I bought 2 more lanterns, does that tell you? Also great for camping etc.

4 out of 5 stars product is as describe   July 8, 2008

we used this lantern on a stormy 24hr black-out night. the light was bright and constant. the lantern was sturdy. my only complaint was that it uses 4D batteries and the on/off switch needed more force to push down.

3 out of 5 stars Great for emergencies but a bit of a battery hog   April 22, 2008

I love this lantern for it's very bright light and it is incredibly easy to use. The only downside is that it has no other options besides batteries to power it and it can get pretty pricey to buy it D batteries if you use it alot. I do alot of camping in my van and although I've still kept this one as an emergency backup I purchased a rechargeable lantern that's able to be powered by my van's lighter outlet.

5 out of 5 stars Fast & Easy for an emergency   April 14, 2008

I'm a California urban dweller. During a recent nighttime power outage where a square mile of our neighborhood went suddenly black, I reached for my emergency earthquake kit to get crank radio, flashlight, whatever...I forgot about this lantern I had purchased on an impulse...it's the best! Easy to turn on, throws off a ton of light and with it's handle we were able to carry it around the neighborhood to check on our neighbors and help out anyone. It does attract the bugs but definately was the light to have in the dark.
