I recommend this lantern would recommend to use on low mode b/c high mode not much brighter. Lantern on low mode is very bright. I like that comes with battery charger and car charger and is stored in the base of the unit. You also don't need to purchase batteries for this unit b/c is built in the lantern which is a plus. Also has a night light mode if needed. Also nice to have b/c if there is a power failure at home then you can use the lantern and will be able to see pretty well. Also affordable.

Great Backup, Good Features, Less $$! May 22, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this "lantern" as a tent-friendly, rechargeable-friendly (can be recharged via car or home outlet), and mainly because it's a good backup in case we run out of propane for our main lantern, or something else occurs.
The casing of the lantern feels solid, I am glad that I can trust the "globe" that the bulb sits in, as it feels sturdy, and does NOT get hot with usage--I was able to leave this on (trying to run the battery down for proper recharge) for 5 hours on the initial charge from factory, only to come back and not feel any heat radiating from the unit. This is good not only for little hands (fears of burns), but for usage in areas that have flammable materials--tents, etc.
I was also satisfied that the unit has something of a "padded" handle, which is just a nice feature to have, as my propane lantern (Coleman as well), has no padding, and is a pain to carry after awhile.
Definitely a great buy, as it is less expensive than the "retro-looking" model, and will perform the same tasks, with added padding to the handle! :-)
Decient for the Camp Grounds May 3, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This lantern is far more than advertised. The reason I am giving it less than 5 stars are as follows: 1. Bright and Dim light settings are about the same. 2. Night light is worthless. 3. Power loss circuit does not apply to night light.
On the good side (why I gave it 4 stars) 1. The battery life is amazing. About 7 hours on High. Far more than expected or advertised. 2. Rugged. Should that a few drops and not hurt anything. 3. Has enought room in the base for the cords. 4. Lights up a camp area very well.
About everything you would expect from a lantern and it is battery powered so no heat, no flame, no gasses.
Super lantern March 24, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great full-size lantern. We use it for reading outside at night, and it is plenty bright. The rechargeable feature is great -- no more expensive batteries!
